The Iraqi Planning Minister Salman Al-Jumaili issued a statement and indicated the negotiations will be started very soon with Britain about the issuance of 10 billion pounds (at least 13 billion U.S dollars) loan to Iraq. The Ministry of Planning issued a statement that Iraqi Planning Minister received a delegation for trade from British Prime Minister in his Baghdad office. The British delegation headed by the director of the British Council of Iraqi businessman Baroness Emma Nicholson including a group of senior businessmen and a number of heads of non-governmental organizations & companies from various sectors. They discussed a number of issues regarding the development of mutual collaboration between Iraq and the United Kingdom, especially in the fields of investment & participation of British companies working in Iraq.
The Minister of Planning said during the meeting that recent crisis in the country led the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the Council of Ministers to develop partnerships with local private sector and cooperate with the foreign investors and companies, specifically in the field of finalizing the stopped investment projects. Those projects were stopped due to the recent crisis and this process needs original partners to finalize pending projects due to these projects have their own importance to stabilize Iraqi economy and to provide production in the future. The statement added that Iraqi Planning Ministry is working hard to adopt perfect mechanisms & frameworks to develop partnerships with Iraqi private sector and to provide a more suitable environment to boost up investment in the country.
